Heart Chakra: Anahata
The heart chakra is located at your heart and lungs and forms the bridge between your lower and upper energy centers. Its element is Air, its color is green, and when balanced it helps you give and receive love, feel compassion, and welcome gratitude. When it’s out of balance, you may feel closed off or less connected to others.
Yoga helps: Think of heart openers and gentle backbends.
Try: Camel pose, Cobra, Upward Facing Dog
Mantra: YAM
Throat Chakra: Vishuddha
This chakra sits at the throat and is all about communication: speaking, listening, and expressing yourself honestly. Its element is Space and its color is blue. An open throat chakra makes you authentic and clear; a closed one may make it challenging to speak your truth or let yourself be heard.
Yoga helps: Poses that create space around the throat and the upper spine.
Try: Plow pose, Fish pose, Shoulderstand
Mantra: HAM
Third Eye Chakra: Ajna
Located between the eyebrows, the third eye is your center of intuition, insight, and inner knowing. Its element is Light and its color is indigo. When balanced, you feel clarity, trust, and intuitive strength. Out of balance, you may experience doubt, cynicism, headaches, or restless dreams.
Yoga helps: Both focusing postures and restorative poses support this center.
Try: Dolphin pose, Child’s pose, Eagle pose
Mantra: AUM
Crown Chakra: Sahasrara
The crown chakra sits at the top of your head, connected to the spiritual plane and the element of Consciousness. Its color is violet. This chakra truly opens only when the other six are aligned. In balance, it brings inner peace, trust, and a sense of connection to something greater. Out of balance, you might feel disconnected or low.
Yoga helps: Think of inversions, meditation, and gentle resting poses.
Try: Headstand, Half Lotus, Savasana
Sound: OM
Working with the chakras
You can open and balance the chakras through yoga asanas, mudras, breathwork, meditation, and mantras. By combining these tools with awareness and mental softness, you support both your energy and overall wellbeing. From time to time, you’ll find classes at Balanzs that follow a chakra theme, allowing you to explore and practise these concepts together with other students under the guidance of one of our teachers.
