It allows you to be present

When you meditate, you are allowing yourself a moment to just be present and feel what’s going on. No need to speed towards the next thing to do.

It will make you less stressed

Various studies have proven that meditation releases stress. You’ll gain a new perspective on stressful situations, build skills to manage your stress and learn to reduce negative emotions.

It will improve relationships

The great thing is that not only you benefit from your practice, but also the people around you. By changing your mindset you’ll become more fun to be around.

and remember…

it’s meditation practice, not meditation perfect

For most of us, it’s not easy to sit down in stillness. Remember that the goal is not to have absolutely no thoughts. Meditation is all about observing what is happening in your body and in your mind without judgement.

It takes a lot of practice, but you’ll find that the benefits are highly rewarding if you practice it regularly. These 5 tips will help you to establish your meditation practice.

1.

same time, same day

Pick a time that works for you and stick to it. This will make it easier for you to create a habit. Think about it like a part of your routine, e.g. brush teeth, shower, meditate.

2.

go from here to here

Not from here to there. You can think about your plans later. For now, just try to focus on your breath in real time. Fresh breath in, old breath out. Repeat.

3.

it’s a marathon, not a sprint

Remember that, like any skill, meditation takes consistent practice. It’s better to do it for ten minutes each day, rather than half an hour twice a week.

4.

don’t judge

If you get distracted, that’s okay. We all do. Just kindly bring your attention back to your breath. Try to not get annoyed or frustrated with yourself whenever your mind wanders off.

5.

take your calm with you

Remember to thank yourself after each moment of meditation. Thank yourself for your own learning, health and well-being. Take this sense of calm & clarity with you throughout your day.
